Spotify launches new content brand Frequency!

AMPLIFY BLACK VOICES!
Spotify launched a new global initiative and holistic destination called Frequency, which aims to amplify black voices. It celebrates established and emerging black artists and fosters community and culture. An exciting move for Spotify and an even bigger one for creatives of color!

ABOUT FREQUENCY:
Frequency adds on Spotify’s existing work such as Black History is Happening Now. As part of the initial wave Spotify rolled out several playlists according to Frequency:
– This is Frequency features new releases from both established and emerging artists
– Ripple Effect amplifies unsigned and newcomer artists
– House Party emphasizes the music of nightlife
– Heard You (Podcast Playlist) embodies «the Frequency ethos» to guest-curate programming

DID YOU KNOW?
Spotify also announced the “Raising the Frequency” Ambassador Program, that will grant $50,000 scholarship fund for black college students trying to enter both the music or tech industries. The program will also match donations of $25,000 to select community organizations, establish the Frequency Songwriting Camp and have Spotify’s “Taste” playlist taken over and curated by artists like Damson Idris and Aliya Janell.
